"Metti giu' quell'arma!" - "Put down your weapon!"

Gladioli, whose name comes from the shape of the leaves, so similar to the Roman sword called "gladio", are not suitable for guerrilla gardening.

First of all, I have to admit that I don't like them: in my opinion, they're typical flowers used for funeral pillows.
When I bought the bulbs, I even didn't know what kind of flowers are. I just thought that they are summer-flowering bulbs, making them suitable to be buried after tulips.

The real problem, however, is that they are too delicate to be abandoned in illicit gardens: they need too much water and, often, I cannot water  every day, even in the hottest days.
They need backings, since the day of sowing. Unfortunately, I didn't put anything and now leaves are growing lying down.
Trying to to straighten them now, while the flower is growing, would be to risk breaking stalks and putting now backings might pierce the bulbs.

When leaves will turn to brown, in October, I'll have to decide if leave them buried or not. I'd like to do like last year, when I learned that dozens of little bulbs were growing around the mother-bulb.

However, given the unsatisfactory results obtained (poor flowering and sudden withering ), I'm thinking to abandon this type of flower.

Meanwhile, the little bulbs obtained last year, are growing in a box in the garden....
